The Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen will be playing the role of Aleister Crowley – the founder of Thelema who was mentioned quite a few times in season 1 – in season 2 of CBS All Access Series “Strange Angel”. He will be seen opposite Jack Reynor in the TV Show.
Strange Angel is a creation of Mark Heyman. It is based on the book by George Pendle with the same name which is a true story of a person named Jack Parsons who mounted on the rocket science world. But it was not only the military who benefited from his genius mind but he also ended up on gaining the attention of Aleister Crowley when he got involved in a sex cult with his wife Susan.
Jack Parsons and his team made a scientific breakthrough at the end of Season 1 which secures the military’s interest when the nation is on the extreme edge of war. Season 2 sees the rocket science work of Jack being used by the military of the United States in World War 2. He is also entrenched in Military Industrial Complex. Jack’s career and his, along with his wife Susan’s, devotion towards their occult religion ‘Thelema’ both grows simultaneously. Finally, they invite the religious veneration of sex into the Pasadena Mansion and also cast a private relationship with the founder of Thelema – Aleister Crowley himself.
Crowley, who is a man of mystery, writer of novels, master spy, climber of mountains and the founder of Thelema, comes seeking for Jack’s military connections and pushes him to use the powers of will and magick to even greater heights.
Angus Macfadyen has performed historical roles like this in the past as well. He played the role of Bruce the Robert in the movie Braveheart which was an Academy Award Winner and also starred on TV in three seasons of Turn. The Lost City of Z, Equilibrium, The Bruce and We Bought a Zoo are his other important film credits.He co-wrote and produced The Bruce. He marked his directorial and screenplay debut with modern retelling of the Macbeth and Macbeth Unhinged.
Aside from Angus Macfadyen, Strange Angel Season 2 stars Jack Reynor, Bella Heathcote, Peter Mark Kendall, Rupert Friend, and Greg Wise.
