Elements And Direction of Magick.
Discover how important the elements and direction of magick is in the role of spell casting. Witches respect the elements Air, Water, Earth and Spirit and their relevant directions that is North, East, South, West as well as Center in the sacred circles where rituals are carried and spells are done.
The sacred circle also represents the ritual space, holding in the personal power and eliminates distracting energy, producing the appropriate environment for the rites. These components of nature are the building blocks belonging to the universe.
The magick elements.
The four magick elements are is important in understanding the different spells and all esoteric culture encompassing magic.
These major elements comprise water, earth, air and fire. These factors are what makes the globe rotate and are the basis which every matter endures. Sometimes the spirit is considered the fifth element in Wicca.
1. Air.
This is the element belonging to the East and it is the place the sun rises. For this, it commands the eastern quarter of the circle. This is the point of a fresh start and it is linked with intelligence, mental processes and thinking. Normally, the Air’s color and its music are from flutes and bells. It is linked to life through the earth and soul.
2. Fire.
The element is associated with the anger, heat of the day, passion and action. It is associated with the scorpions, spics, salamander, heat, the noonday sun and the Lizard. While its colors are orange and red its music originates from the brass instruments. It is masculine and has the power to generate and destroy, treat and hurt.
3. Water.
This is associated with the chilliness that occurs after the noonday sun. It is the rushing stream, rivers and oceans and it is an emotional element. While their color is shades of green and blue, its music is from the piano or the violin. Because it sustains life, it is quite essential in magic. It normally deals with spells that concern treating, refining and cleansing.
4. Earth.
This is the symbol of the rest or rather the time of darkness. This is the place of abundance, growth, death and reverting to the earth. It is associated with trees, plants, seeds and stones. Its colors are shades of green, black and brown and the associated music can be obtained in the drum. This element is usually used in fertility and love spells. It characterizes stability, solidarity, endurance and strength.
5. Spirit.
This is quite hard to explain and nearly impossible to display. It is regarded as the center of the wheel and the head of the pentacle. It has no actual associated colors.
The directions of the magic.
The representation of the four directions is as follows:
- To the North salt or a bowl of the earth is placed.
- To the East, a censor having smoldering incense is placed.
- To the South, a candle is placed
- To the West, a dish of water is placed
These 4 objects may be placed on the Alter rather than around the Circle. The ritual can kick off when the circle has been created.
North as an element of the earth represents nourishment, stability, and fertility. East, as an element Air, symbolizes divination, communication, spirituality and movement. South, the element Fire represents passions, success, change, health and strengths. On the other hand, west, which may be described by a cup of water is the element water and it stands for emotion, healing, love, beauty as well as the emotional spirit.
